National Disability Employment Awareness Month
The Huntsville Area Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is now accepting nominations for the 2008 Annual Awards recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The purpose of the annual awards program is to recognize individuals, business and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to our society and/or who have improved the social landscape of employment opportunities for residents with disabilities in the Huntsville and Madison County areas.
The 2008 Annual Awards Banquet will be held October 9, 2008, in the prestigious Saturn V Hall of the Davidson Center at the US Space & Rocket Center. Dinner and entertainment will begin at 6:00 with the presentation of the awards afterwards.
Please consider submitting a nomination. Think of the people you work with, go to church with or see in your daily life who have overcome challenges and are now successfully employed. Additionally, consider businesses that make technology or items that enable persons with disabilities to enjoy daily life or companies that actively employ persons with disabilities. The nominations categories are described in full on the attached nomination form and limited only by your imagination. Anyone can be nominated for an award and there are several categories to choose from. However, the Mayor’s Award – Employee of the Year is limited only to persons who have a disability and have achieved success in work or daily living.
Instructions for submitting your nomination(s) are also included on the attached form. Deadline for submission is September 1, 2008. If you have questions or need more information, please call or email. My contact information is below.
Sincerely,
Nancy K. Greer, CI
